DiscordWay Concern
I recently found out about a 3-necro DiscordWay build, and thought it would be an interesting build. I did some searching, and found a build for the 3 necro's that I thought would be best-suited for my tastes. See the 3 builds here. I didn't use the player build. I thought I'd try it out by vanquishing Norrhart Domains outside Gunnar's Hold. My party was killed faily easily by a team of Frozen Elementals accompanied by 1 Avalanche. I don't think it has anything to do with the necro builds, as those have been widely successful, so my concern is what build should I use as a warrior, and what henchmen should I bring along to prevent this from happening? I'd like to bring an interrupter, but I didn't see one available in Gunnar's Hold.

Discord is not ideal for a Warrior, because Warriors cannot play an AP caller very well due to energy constraints. Sabway or Racthoh's Team generally work better.
If you are determined though to play with Discord, I suggest bringing a Warrior's Endurance build. This allows you to constantly pump out damage from the start, rather than waiting for adrenaline to build up. Depending on the area, you might want to go with a Scythe or an Axe.

As a warrior? Well, your best bet would be to use something with conditions and a hex. Maybe try one of the WE builds with A-scan. (with daggers, with a scythe, or with an axe.)
The problem you most likely had is that you weren't calling your targets, and you need a condition and a hex to call well.

You can still play AP caller as a war, u just need to hold back on all that FH! and evas and choose when you use it wisely. Other than that Dslash or war scythe build helps with asuran scan. Also I find discord pretty weak when facing a group of spike nukers and also with the avalanche carrying maelstrom. Heroes are kinda stupid bunching up together. Usually if I vanq with discords/hench I try to bring 2 henchies that provide heals, because essentially you want to keep the discords going instead of making spend more time healing (I also am using AP caller on W/A)

It was unfortunate for you that you chose to try out your Discord necro heroes where you did - those Frozen Elementals and Avalanche don't leave any exploitable corpses! This build is relatively weak where your MM can't create minions. Go try it somewhere else, and take skills that allow you to cheaply put a hex and condition on your foes and you'll find you'll do OK.

To really see the power of Discordway, try those buffaloes foes outside Olastead in HM.
With a friend, we flag heroes (6 discord necros) where the grass starts, then we run around catching aggro.
Epic fun.

Thats it. WE scythe warrior is great and allows you to "spam" asuran scan , still need a condition but shouldnt be so hard to fit a fast rech one on your team. Micro 1 or 2 Disc heroes in your keyboard for faster killings.

Thanks for all the information.
Ariena - I am not determined to play the Discord build, I just wanted to try it out. I read up on Sabway, but I've never heard of Racthoh's Team. I will look into that and see what I can find out.
Karate - I really like the W/D build. I will test that out tonight. I'm pretty sure the problem didn't deal with target calling, as I called every target I could.
Trader - Yes, Maelstrom was the killer when facing the Avalanche. I took down the groups of just Frozen Elementals with no problem, but the Avalanche was enough to kill my group.
Shanaya - I didn't even think about the non-exploitable corpses when trying to figure out why the build didn't fair well.
Popeye - If I had a friend to do that with, I probably would. Most of my friends either won't do something like that, or are too new to the game, and aren't far enough in to be able to do that.
To everyone - What do you guys think about a W/R build that used Hundred Blades and Apply Poison. A quick way to put a condition on lots of enemies. Thoughts on expanding that build past those 2 skills.

Interesting choice. If I went with Withering Aura, I could almost go with a Hammer KD build to exploit Withering Aura even more... Thoughts on that?

Hi ppl
Ive been playing with Discordway since it came out, and changed it for all areas, and it have helped tons ^^
imo, its OP, but its fun to play with it anyway.
Im a warrior, so eaven tho i do alot of damage, i want it to be quicker(therefor discord) so heres my tip for "AP" caller on melee
I play Warriors endurance (with /A/D/anything really) manly, so energy is often not a problem, therefor my build:
A cheap hex that would benefit me , as an warrior..
Asuran Scan, ofc. @r10=+75% damage!, Thats really OP..
And then a condition.. i want to do it quick, not wait 5 attacks for an Deep wound or something.Theres hardly any that doesnt have an condition for doing a condition(ugetme?)
Then i saw Sneak Attack.. A permanent blind, which with an scythe can blind 3 foes, constantly, and thats just great
then add in powerattack, a deep wound, another pve skill, and maybe a res
and u got ur own VERY powerfull AP caller !
(this looks like a lifestory of my gw, haha)
got any questions on builds, im here for a bit, and often in game on :Oscar The Lord. GL&HF

I can sympathize with your doubts about discordway. I personally pretty much stopped using discordway after having an unpleasant experience with it while vanquishing Bahdok Caverns. For some of the battles there, the combination of Kournan priests with convert hexes and Kournan phalanxes with cautery signet greatly reduced the effectiveness of the discord necros.
Being lazy about pve, nowadays I almost always go with a spiteful spirit necro hero, discord minion bomber necro hero, and SoS/splinter weapon/healing spirit spammer hero, along with 2 hench monks, earth hench if available, and an interrupt or blood hench. Seems to generally work well enough for most pve situations.

Getting back to why he was dying in the first place....He was dying because the Elementals were hitting a bunched up group. If he had spaced his heros and henchies out, there AoE would be less effective.

Discordway isn't some tool to be thrown at PvE and magically fix everything. It works....in most areas, but where there are few corpses or too much condition/hex removal you're supposed to run other builds. There are TONS of super-effective hero vanquishing builds, and to be perfectly honest, it doesn't even matter. You could probably vanquish with just henchies and cons just as quickly as you would with heroes and no cons.
Btw, PvE is not srs bsns if you can afk vanquish (like I have on two chars :/)

Ok, I have a couple of questions about different things.
1. Where can I get Asuran Scan?
2. What level of Asuran rank do I need to be to get it?
3. What is AFK vanquish? I know what AFK is, and I know what vanquish is, but how does it work?

1. Interesting, I'll go get it tonight. Thanks
2. I'm rank 4 or so. :P
3. Wow, that's the epitome of lazy... I assumed AFK Vanquish meant exactly that, but I hoped I was misunderstanding it, because I hoped people weren't that lazy.

No matter what anyone tells you, you do not need an AP caller for D-way to be effective. D-way can be efficiently run, with any profession/build provided you modify the builds accordingly. The builds on http://pvxwiki.com are not necessarily the optimal builds for it anyway.
